Case Study
Problem
Early during my studies, I noticed that some people felt isolated or were lacking inspiration. I wanted to change that and my program didn’t have a student association yet.
Solution
I built UXplore into an official student association, organising events both fun/social and academic.
Process
Discovery
By empathising, talking to students and testing with different events or marketing strategies I gathered the following insights.
students lack the feeling of community within their study
the need for extracurricular design events and talks
an inspiration hub that showcases student work
Philosophy
The mission to help create more connection between the different years and within each year of the study
Spark inspiration and curiosity for what is possible, what is out there & enable students to feel more enthusiastic about UX
Offer help and support with relevant courses and events
Framer Website: A hub with useful information for students
As a fun exploration of Framer, I learned the tool and created this site within 3 weeks.
Collections of useful resources, guidance for new students, places to discover in The Hague in a website representing the association.
Engaging UX Students through Social Media
Using Instagram to reach students about relevant events and promote the association:
Guest Speakers from the Field
Design Critique Sessions
Figma Workshop
Programming Support Desk
Study Sessions
and other socialising events
Outcomes
Starting this organisation helped students gain more motivation for design, share relevant experience and form a sustainable community of UX students.
